Eligibility and Selection Criteria

2.1. Eligible Candidates

The scholarship is available to full-time undergraduates in Cohorts 47–49 from the Departments of Mathematics–Informatics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Information Technology. Applicants must not have received any other scholarships during the year (In cases where a student has already been awarded a scholarship, the name and amount of the scholarship must be clearly stated).

2.2. Selection Criteria

Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or above across official academic semesters.

Note: GPA for scholarship consideration will be calculated based on: Cumulative GPA from Semesters I and II of the 2023–2024 academic year; Cumulative GPA from Semester I of the 2024–2025 academic year. This applies to both academic programs that follow a two-semester or three-semester structure per year. Summer semesters (for two-semester programs) and Semester III (for three-semester programs) will not be included in the evaluation.

Priority Consideration:

Applicants with the following achievements will receive priority consideration:

Possession of valid foreign language certificates

Published research in the fields of Natural Sciences, Engineering, or Technology since 2024, featured in journals indexed by Web of Science, SCOPUS, or recognized domestic journals accredited by Councils for Professor Title in Specialty and Interdisciplinary.

Instructions: All application materials and supporting documents must be arranged in the specified order and compiled into a single PDF file. Warm gathering for Laotian students at Ho Chi Minh City University to celebrate traditional bunpimay New Year 2025

On the morning of April 13, 2025, at Hall A.509, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education organized a meeting program for Lao undergraduate and graduate students studying at the school on the occasion of the traditional New Year Bunpimay 2025 - one of the important traditional festivals, marking the new year according to the culture of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

The event had the honor of welcoming Mr. Lonphanh Phaodavanh, Consul, Consulate General of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Ho Xuan Lam, Vice President, General Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Huynh Thanh Nha, General Secretary of the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City, Deputy Director of the Lao Student Dormitory in Ho Chi Minh City; MSc. Nguyen Thi Minh Thu; Deputy Secretary of the Party cell, Vice Principal of the Ho Chi Minh City University Preparatory School; Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Son, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, University President; Dr. Cao Anh Tuan, University Vice-President along with leaders from the functional departments, and Laotian students who are currently enrolled in Ho Chi Minh City University of Education. This is a special occasion for the leaders of the university to express their deep concerns to the students while contributing to the traditional friendship and outstanding solidarity between the people of Laos and Vietnam.

During the event, Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Son, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, University President, wished a year full of health and happiness to all the Laotian students. He stressed “The Vietnam-Laos friendship is a loyal and exemplary relationship. Each Laotian student is the friendship ambassador who plays a crucial role in strengthening the bond between two countries. HCMUE is honored to welcome and train multiple generations of Laotian students. These students will be seeds of wisdom that carry the mission to develop their country and nurture the close friendship between two countries in the future. In the atmosphere imbued with Laotian cultural identity, Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Son gave the congratulatory letters, wore lucky bracelets, and gave the Laotian students new year gifts.

On behalf of the Lao students, Manychan Vongonkeo - a student of the Chemistry Department - gracefully expressed: “We are happy to celebrate our traditional New Year in Vietnam, where we consider our second home. We are also honored to carry our cultural essence of our wonderful country to our Vietnamese friends at HCMUE and, in exchange, learn and immerse ourselves in the traditions of our beloved Vietnam. We would like to express our gratitude to the teachers and HCMUE for organizing a meaningful, warm, and loving event. We promise to put our best efforts into our study and training to be worthy of the love that the teachers have extended to us.

The event also encompassed performances, blessing rituals, hand-tying, Dok Champa wreath-giving, and traditional Lao Lam Vong dance, creating a bustling, friendly, and cohesive atmosphere.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education is receiving and training a total of 21 Lao international students, including 05 Lao international students studying Vietnamese at Gia Lai Branch, 07 Lao international students studying at the university level and 09 Lao international students studying at the postgraduate level. The number of Lao international students is concentrated in the fields of Educational Management and Natural Sciences. This event is a meaningful activity, not only helping Lao international students feel the connection and sharing in the learning environment in Vietnam but also contributing to spreading the message of solidarity, friendship, and international cooperation in the student community of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education.

AEON SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR 2024–2025 ACADEMIC YEAR

Pursuant to the agreement between Ho Chi Minh City University of Education (HCMUE) and the AEON 1% Club Foundation – Japan, the Foundation annually offers a number of scholarships to students of HCMUE. For the 2024 – 2025 academic year, the AEON 1% Club Foundation continues to grant scholarships to HCMUE students who are facing financial hardship and have demonstrated a strong commitment to academic advancement.

The International Cooperation Office is pleased to announce the following details regarding the AEON Scholarship

1. Program Overview:

Initiated in 2006, the AEON Scholarship is an annual program by the AEON 1% Club Foundation offered in seven Asian countries. The project was established with the hope that scholarship recipients would serve as a bridge between their home countries and Japan in their respective areas of expertise.

In addition to financial support, the program offers recipients opportunities to participate in academic and volunteer activities aimed at fostering the development of future global talents.

2. Number, Value, and Duration of Scholarships:

-Number of recipients: 08 students (an increase of 03 from the previous year)

-Scholarship value: USD 800 (increased by USD 365) per recipient.

-Duration: The scholarship is awarded for two consecutive academic years, provided that the recipient maintains satisfactory academic performance.

3. Eligibility Criteria:

-Be currently enrolled as a full-time third-year undergraduate student at HCMUE.

-Hold Vietnamese nationality.

-Come from a financially disadvantaged background.

-Maintain an academic performance rating of Good or above (equivalent to a grade of B to A on the letter grade scale, or a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale).

-Not receive any other similar scholarships or financial aid according to current university regulations.

-Have no record of violations related to university regulations, public order, morality, or social norms.

-Not participate in any study-abroad programs lasting three months or longer during the scholarship period.

-Commit to attending the Scholarship Award Ceremony, tentatively scheduled for November 25, 2024, if selected.

Hearty “Flourishing Vietnam – Laos Amity” Program

On the evening of January 19^th, 2023, the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association, in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations, organized an art performance program titled "Flourising Vietnam-Laos Amity" at Ho Chi Minh University of Education. The program contributed to promoting people-to-people diplomacy between Vietnam and Laos and provided an opportunity for the young generations of the two countries to exchange and learn through cultural and artistic activities.

In attendance were Mr. Ngo Minh Chau, City’s Party Committee Member, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee, and President of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association; Mr. Ho Xuan Lam, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations; and Mr. Phonesy Bounmixay, Consul General of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Ho Chi Minh City. Representing Ho Chi Minh City University of Education was Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Son, the University's President.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Ngo Minh Chau, City’s Party Committee Member, Deputy Chairman of the People's Committee, and President of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association, highlighted that over the past time, the traditional amity between Ho Chi Minh City and Lao localities had been continuously developing deeply and widely across various sectors, yielding increasingly practical outcomes. Particularly in the field of education and training, Ho Chi Minh City had nearly 800 Lao students studying at academies and universities at present.

Mr. Phonesy Bounmixay, Consul General of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Ho Chi Minh City, highly appreciated this program, which aimed to strengthen international solidarity and friendship, as well as the ties of Laos - Vietnam, Vietnam – Laos in general, and between Ho Chi Minh City and Lao localities in particular. He hoped that in the future, the City would continue to implement cooperative programs in line with the goals and tasks of socio-economic development of the two countries.

In a warm and solemn atmosphere, students from several universities, including Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, Ton Duc Thang University, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine, the University Preparatory School, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance, the Lao Students' Dormitory in Ho Chi Minh City, and the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Cultural House, staged a series of impressive performances.

During the program, the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association officially launched two new Vietnam-Laos Friendship Chapters, one at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and another at Thien Phu Tourism and Education Limited Company.

As a token of appreciation and to foster a festive atmosphere during the Vietnamese Lunar New Year among Lao students, the organizing committee presented 100 gifts, worth 500,000 VND each, to 100 Lao students.

Based on the student exchange agreement between Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and Odisee University of Applied Sciences, Belgium in 2024, the International Cooperation Office continues to receive notifications from Odisee University inviting students of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education to participate in the Student Exchange Program 2024 (hereafter referred to as the Odisee Program 2025).

The International Cooperation Office announces the specific information about the program as follows:

- Odisee University of Applied Sciences, Belgium is a member of the KU Leuven Association with 06 campuses located in Aalst, Brussels, Dilbeek, Schaarbeek, Ghent and Sint-Niklaas, Belgium. - Commit to strictly following the regulations and fully participating in the activities of the program;

- Comply with the laws of Vietnam and the host country during the program;

- Actively support and participate in community activities related to the program after returning home;

04 excellent HCMUE students won The Final of the Russian Olympic competition for students in 2024

After more than two months of organizing and launching the "HCMUE Reading Culture Ambassador" competition in 2024, the Organizing Committee received 82 entries from 21 units in the Preliminary round. After evaluation, 19 entries advanced to the Final round.

This year's competition has shown that the leadership of the departments has paid special attention, provided guidance, and fostered a shift in awareness regarding the development of a reading culture among readers. This has resulted in a noticeable improvement in the quality of the entries, with many submissions being well-invested and of higher quality. Numerous entries were presented impressively and attractively; the content clearly and logically conveyed the themes, was scientific, creative, and thoroughly analyzed with illustrative images, profound reflections, and meaningful lessons that can be applied to the work, study, and scientific research of students.

As a result, the judges selected 11 outstanding entries according to the prize structure, and awarded 2 collective prizes to the two units with the highest number of winning entries.

Let us be proud and spread the spirit of the reading culture and get ready for more exciting competitions to come.

Based on the student exchange agreement between Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and Mie University, Japan, in 2024, the International Cooperation Office continues to receive notifications from Mie University inviting students in the natural sciences fields of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education to participate in the Sakura Student Exchange Program 2024 (hereafter referred to as the Sakura 2024 Program).

The International Cooperation Office announces the specific information about the program as follows:

1. General Information

Mie University is a public higher education institution located in Tsu City, Mie Prefecture. Mie University is ranked among the top 800 universities in the world and the top 60 universities in Japan, with its medical field ranked among the top 4 in the Japanese higher education system. Mie University and Ho Chi Minh City University of Education established a cooperation relationship in training and student exchange in 2014. The Sakura Student Exchange Program between the two universities has been implemented since 2015, supporting 70 students in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and 6 faculty members to exchange and experience academic life in Japan annually, contributing to improving the quality of training and internationalizing higher education in Vietnam and Japan. Information of Mitsubishi UFJ Foundation Scholarship Program

Mitsubishi UFJ Foundation annually grants total US$ 3,400 to the selected students of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education.

The scholarship program began in 1994, the total number of students having received Mitsubishi UFJ Foundation Scholarship at UOED-HCMC has reached 290 (2023).

The details of the proposal regarding the Scholarship Program are as follows:

1. Name of the scholarship: Mitsubishi UFJ Foundation Scholarship (* Former MUFG Bank Scholarship)

2. Sponsor: MUFG Bank, Ltd.

3. Total amount of grant: US$ 3,400

4. Number of recipients: 10

The scholarship is tenable for one year, but subject to the student's satisfactory progress and selection committee's recommendation, it may be renewed for a second year.
